Assignment #1: Three Months

Imagine that you will have all your bills paid and needs met for the next three months in exchange for taking on a "job" you will do without fail.  Each day, rain or shine, what will you look forward to waking up and doing?  Why do you want to do it?  What would your typical day and/or your overall experience be like?
Please add your response in the comments section of this post.

  1. My ideal job would to become an explorer. Not just to explore Earth, but to also explore other planets and outer space. I want to be able to communicate with various people & spiecies across the world and learn their perspectives about their reality and their attitude towards life. There's so much going on around us and more than half of living beings are concentrated on one little fraction of reality. If I were given such an opportunity I would make a journal of all my experiences and present them at conventions and lecture halls so that I can enlighten others whom have not yet been given the opportunity to explore as I have.

  2. If I could do whatever it is I wanted for three months rain or shine I’d choose to work at a graphic design agency. Why? For the simple fact that I love all things art. It would bring a smile to my face to wake up every morning and come up with something new to do or make. With graphic design the possibilities are as endless as your imagination. I guess I’d alternate between photography, advertisement, custom design pieces, drawing, painting, and sculpting. I hope to one day have my own little graphic design shop.

  3. If I could do anything for three months it would be riding and training horses. I would wake up around 6am every day to let the horses out of their stalls and into the pasture. Around 7am I would clean out every stall, give each stall fresh clean water and last but not least put fresh new hay into each stall. By the time I finish all of the tasks it would be around 9am/10am and depending on each horses condition there will be different task every day. For example some days I may keep some horses tied up to the barn so they can get re-shoed or clean the bottom or their feet out. Other times I might keep a few horses tied up so that when I finish cleaning stalls and what not I could groom them properly, for example: deep shampooing, washing of the mane and tail, applying fungus protectant and sometimes braiding the mane and tail for rodeo. Also I may have things to fix up at the barn including stalls, the round pen, the roping arena and small do it yourself fix ups here and there. When that it is all taken care of it is around 12pm which means time for lunch. Usually at lunch time I would go out to eat or throw something on the bar-b-que pit. After lunch some of the horses might come back up to try and get back into the barn as well as I would go catch the horse in the pasture that need to be ridden that have not been ridden in a while. If it was the case of having to ride some of the horses that had not been ridden, I would halter them up and saddle them up so I could jump on and go. Around 3pm/4pm the children who rodeo at our barn would be coming from school for practice. They would do just as I did by haltering and saddling their horses up to been ridden in the arena. Practice would start with barrel racing, which by the way is not just for girls, guys do it as well, and then roping, which by the way is not just for guys, a girl do it as well. Depending on the day and how close rodeos were we would practice several other events including bull riding, poles, team roping, goat tying and etc. This would end around 7pm/8pm at this time everyone would tie up the horse that they rode and unsaddle. As soon as the finish unsaddling they would leave the horse tied up so they could cool down and go measure and put the correct amount of feed into each pen. After that we usually talk, eat or laugh together until all the horses are cool and can go back into the pens. This would be around 9pm where I would go into the ranch house shower, relax and go to bed. Now if it was rodeo the day would go the same until around 3pm/4pm when the children would come to the barn instead of the saddling up, we would load up the trailer with all the supplies needed for the rodeo. This includes saddles, tie downs, blankets, Navahos, bits and etc. Around 4:30pm it would be time for the horses to be loaded up and we would be on our way to wherever the rodeo was. We would not return until around 2am/3am and we would unload the trailer, feed up and then unload the horses. Afterwards I would shower and go start to bed.

  4. For three months I would love to be a professional screen play adapter. I love graphic novels and books. The effort that goes into writing a story or a graphic novel is huge, and watching movie and TV studios take these works of art and try and translate them, and often failing utterly makes me really unhappy. Some of the worst offenders are 'The league of Extraordinary Gentlemen' and 'Ella Enchanted'. TLoEG is a graphic novel written by Alan Moore. About ten years ago, a movie studio bought the rights and basically there is no resemblence between the graphic novel and the movie, which is awful. Ella Enchanted is another example, but it started life as a novel. They took this beautiful, relatively simple love story and twisted it into something unrecognizable!
As an adapter, I would make sure that the really important elements of a story weren't lost in the attempt to make money. I would make sure that they stayed true to the source material as best they could. I imagine my days would be full of reading books and graphic novels and taking notes. I would be writing the screenplay at the same time, and comparing the end result with the source material. After having my drafts edited by like minded people, I would submit them to the company that hired me. I think it is wonderful to try and share these stories with a larger audience, but it needs to be done right, or people think less of the original.

  5. For three months I would love to be a fashion buyer for a famous brand. I love fashion all together so I would like to travel all around the world to find different styles of fashion that I could take to my store. I would spend my day traveling to different malls, and/or different fashion shows to find out what's in style for the season and the latest trends. I would also like to style people like putting their clothes together, helping them pick out which shoes would go with their outfit and thngs like that. I love fashion and love to look presentable so I would also like to help others look nice. I would like to start off with local people then work my way up to styling celebrities. That's how I would spend my day rain or shine.

  6. Any Job for 3 Months.

If I could have any job for three months and have all my bills paid and taken care of and still have pocket change I would be a teacher.
I believe that we as students and the public sometimes take our educators for granted. So I would want to be a teacher not only,
to better appreciate the job they do but to know that I may make a lasting impact in someone life as well.
Although I may not agree with most current teaching methods as I think they leave something more to be warranted and needed.
I can only hope that I would do my best in these three months and maybe motivate others to try the same.

  7. If I could do anything I wanted for 3 months, and I didn't have to worry about bills or living expenses for my family and myself, I would have a hard time picking just one thing to do.
One idea, I had, of something that I would leap out of bed every morning to do, would be to travel all around the world and to study the culinary arts at all the best places to eat, in the world. I would also love to learn from all the top chefs. At least one chef, from every country, would be my instructor. The chef would teach me one dish that best represents their country. You can learn a whole lot from just observing a chef prepare just one meal. I would learn so much about the world through the different ethnic dishes that I would learn to make. It would also give me the opportunity to travel and meet new people from all over the world. It would not only teach me a great deal about different foods from different places but I would also learn about the different customs and cultures around the world, through learning about their food and learning how to prepare it.

  8. I want to be a professional soccer player. That is my dream job; I love soccer and I think that having the chance to do that for three months would be the best thing ever happened to me. Also, I would do it without fail. Every day I would have to wake up early in the morning to go to soccer practice no matter if it rains or shine. If it rain instead of staying outside we would use the gym so it is something that I will love to do. I want to do this not only because I love it but because I’m good at it. My typical day would be going to practice in the morning, rest and then in the afternoon go back to the concentration. Around 5:00 pm I would be visiting any friend or hanging out with my girlfriend. Overall my life would be about being in shape, healthy food, following rules, meeting people, going places, and new cultures.

  9. If I could do one thing in three months without worry about paying bills that would be a world traveler. My biggest dream is to travel around the world to explore the famous places in each country. I love to be able to see and feel it with my own eyes in different cultures and lifestyles all over the world. My ideal countries that I love to go for would be Singapore, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, France, Italy, England, Germany, Denmark, Canada, and Australia. Every morning, I would grab my belongings and the camera to the bus or train station to begin my journal. If I could I would like to stay a week in each country and try to visit all the places and moving to another country and so on. I would record and take lot of pictures so I can share them with my family and friends who wished that they could be like me one day. :)

  10. What I would Love to do when, I am given this kind of opportunity is go back to Congo and help all the little kids that has lots their families and hopes. This name might not to be familiar with many of you, but Congo Dr is a country located in central Africa. Happens to be “the second largest country in Africa by area and the eleventh largest in the world” Even though Congo is one of the blessed country, and full of Gold and Diamonds there is war, and many people have lost their families. I happen to know lots of kids that have lost families and hope, When I saw them, I thought to myself ” This could be anyone I know, including myself?. So why them? Why is this happening? What can I do to help?” lots of things went through my mind. Then I just knew and I had to do something, give something reach to them. Anyhow I never had the chance because of what life brings in front of us ,but it’s still one of my goals in my list. So this would be the great opportunity for me to take advantage of. I would wake up early in the morning like around 5:00am. Just do it, because its brings joy in my eyes to reach on to people in need. I would help them find a safe place to live, schools for the kids, new clothes and health food. Toys for kids, New books. I will pray with them and give them love because many don’t even seem to understand or know how to love because they have never had anyone love them, many are broken and I feel that I can make a difference. I always believe we all have to play a role in life and this is for me.

  11. For three months I’d do what I love. I like going to the gym because it helps me forget about everyday life stress. Being in the gym puts me in a zone where I don’t think, but I only do. The music and the constant physical activity help promote relaxation and keep me from thinking too much. Being in a space where I’m not bothered by homework or other matters that strains me is priceless. Exercising regularly is just one of several ways to cope with stress and stay healthy.

  14. If I could have a "job" that I wouldn't fail on any rainy or sunny for three months, I would be a zoologist. The reason why I would want to do it is because I simply love animals and would like to study and work for them. They are a fascination. :)A typical day of a zoologist would be caring or observing for the animals in a zoo, out there in the wildlife, or any other environment that focuses on animals only. To have this opportunity would be a wonderful thing and it would be a great learning experience.
